What comes first the hall or the entertainer? For Little Tigers magazine

What comes first the venue or the entertainer?

Children’s parties are a big event on every child’s social calendar. So much planning goes into the party, should I hire an entertainer? Should I provide party bags? What should I put in the party bags? How long should the party last? How many kids should I invite? The whole class or a select few?

I can honestly say that in the 3 years that I have run My Funky Party the number one question that my clients always ask me is, what should be booked first? The hall or the entertainer? This is a question which is asked more than any other and the answer is very simple.

All halls are more or less the same, a large space for the party, a small kitchen with cups and saucers etc, most are of comparative cost and quality of facilities. I always suggest that parents should book their chosen entertainer first because usually it’s the entertainer that can’t be compromised on especially if your child has their heart set on a specific face painter, magician or theme party. It is always a good idea to book any entertainment the day that you have decided on your party date, this avoids much disappointment when booking a popular in demand professional entertainer.

When you choose your date try and plan the party to be during the first or last weekend of a school break if your child’s birthday falls around these tricky times. Also a good idea is to liaise with the parents of your child’s best friend as I am told by my own kids that this is more important than the cake, entertainer or venue!
